Here are pictures of the spillway at the lock - about 500 yds south of us. These were taken before the rain started - don't want to take a walk just now. The water is brown because of the tannin from rotting leaves/vegetation and trees. Apparently in colonial times barrels of this water was shipped back to Europe because they thought it was a curative. Now we know what it does - puts that lovely "beard" on the bow of the boat!

Great talking with you. We are so glad that you are safe and sound. We are still waiting for the worse to come. If PJ is on the bottom floor, it seems he should evacuate.....just heard on the news about the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

ReplyDeleteHi Kevin and Diane, Glad to hear from you. We were so lucky that Sandy had the good grace to go around the outer banks of NC and not straight through. You guys definitely took a worse hit. MYC is so well protected and cared for. Hope all is well and the trees are removed - power back up etc.
